Singapore has no shortage of rooftop bars, but most of them coast on altitude alone — overpriced pours, forgettable playlists, and a skyline view doing all the heavy lifting. After burning through dozens of mediocre sundowners so you don't have to, here are five that actually earn your Friday night budget.
1. Skai Bar, Swissôtel The Stamford (Level 70). Still the undisputed king of altitude drinking in Singapore. The cocktails are precise, the service is impeccable, and on a clear evening, you can see all the way to Batam. The Negroni Sling ($28) is a perfect marriage of two classics. Dress code enforced — no slippers, no arguments. Open daily 5pm–1am.
2. Mr Stork, Andaz Singapore (Level 39). Those teepee cabanas on the rooftop have become an Instagram cliché for a reason — they're genuinely fun. But skip the photo op and head to the standing bar area where the crowd thins out and the drinks are better. The lychee martini ($24) is dangerously drinkable. Kampong Glam views seal the deal. Open Mon–Sat 5pm–midnight.
3. Smoke & Mirrors, National Gallery (Level 6). Not technically a skyscraper bar, but the Padang-facing terrace is one of the most cinematic drinking spots in the city. The cocktail programme rotates quarterly and takes itself seriously without being pretentious. Try whatever's on the seasonal menu — the team rarely misses. Cocktails $22–$30. Open Tue–Sun 5pm–midnight.
4. LeVeL33, MBFC Tower 1 (Level 33). The world's highest urban craft brewery is more than a gimmick. The house-brewed blonde ale ($14) is crisp and honest, and the brewery tour is worth doing once. Marina Bay views, solid bar bites, and a crowd that skews more after-work professional than tourist. Open daily 11:30am–midnight.
5. Lantau, CapitaSpring (Level 51). The newest entry on this list and arguably the most exciting. A subtropical rooftop with lush greenery, inspired cocktails referencing Southeast Asian botanicals, and a hawker-meets-fine-dining snack menu. The pandan coconut highball ($26) is summer in a glass. Open Wed–Sun 5pm–late.
Skip the hotel lobby bars with tired views. These five have earned the right to charge you $25 for a drink — and you won't regret a single sip.
