Tanjong Pagar has never been short on good drinking spots, but the neighbourhood just levelled up with Cloudline, a sleek new rooftop bar perched on the 33rd floor of a recently completed mixed-use tower on Wallich Street. It opened its doors last Friday, and the early verdict from cocktail lovers is already looking strong.
The brainchild of veteran bartender Marcus Tan — previously behind the stick at Atlas and Manhattan — Cloudline leans into Southeast Asian botanicals with a razor-sharp focus on craft. The opening menu features 16 cocktails, each named after cloud formations. The Cirrus (pandan-infused gin, kalamansi, butterfly pea flower, egg white) is the early crowd favourite, a pale-blue stunner that tastes as good as it looks. The Nimbus, a smoky take on an Old Fashioned with gula melaka syrup and torched coconut, is another standout.
Design-wise, Cloudline strikes a balance between polished and relaxed. Think terrazzo countertops, rattan seating, and plenty of greenery framing panoramic views of Sentosa and the shipping lanes. There is indoor seating for around 40, plus an open-air terrace that fits another 30 — expect that terrace to become prime sunset real estate on weekends.
Small plates lean Asian-Mediterranean. The prawn toast with nduja and tobiko ($18) is dangerously moreish, while the charcoal-grilled lamb ribs with sambal hijau ($28) pair perfectly with the heavier cocktails. Prices sit in the $22–$26 range for drinks, which is competitive for a rooftop bar of this calibre.
Happy hour runs Tuesday through Thursday, 5 pm to 7 pm, with selected cocktails at $16. Reservations are recommended for Friday and Saturday evenings — the space is intimate enough that walk-ins might face a wait.
